WHY THE NAME ALIYAH?

The Hebrew word Aliyah (עליה) means ascent, or going up.

Throughout Scripture, the journey to Yerushalayim is described as going up.

"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the house of the Elohim of Ya'akov..."

Isaiah 2:3
